Is your relationship with God stuck in Jr. High?

Posted by Mukkove on July 20, 2010 at 1:48 AM

Do you remember the days of youthful foolishness when a guy and a girl could "go out" and "break up" and never even speak to each other? Girl A tells her friend she likes guy A. The friend talks to guy A. Guy A says he'll go out with girl A if her friend will ask her.  After not talking for a few days they have the friend "break up". No relationship there.

I'm sad to say at times my relationship with God looks like that. When I'm seeking His wisdom or will, especially in specific situations I find myself thinking things like, "I need so-so to pray for me", "I wish this person would give me a word from God or prophecy over me". While these things are not bad on their own, it's not doing anything for my relationship with God. I'm looking to people instead of Him.

I now choose to trust His promises again. I am His sheep, I know His voice, I follow Him. (John 10) There is a voice behind me saying "This is the way, walk in it". (Isaiah) I have asked and so He is granting me wisdom. (James 1) After I have heard His voice and established my heart on His plan and promises then I will be able to discern a word or an oppurtunity. He has done great things for me and I will rejoice!
